Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Charitable Foundation

 

Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Foundation was established in 2009.

 

Mission of the Foundation:

To encourage and promote new generation of professional, patriotic, tolerant Ukrainians who care about common values and goods, who are proactive in social and political life of the country and who can cooperate with each other. The young Ukrainians will form a critical mass of people capable of transforming Ukraine in the future.

 

In three years’ period, starting from 2009 until 2012 the Fundation has ffinanced projects to the amount of 8 648 753 UAH (equivalent to 786 250 EUR)

 

2009-2012 grant projects:

Foundation has financed and supported several big projects. Among them:

 

  • Development projects of the National Scout Organization “Plast”;

  • Projects of the Centre of Political Studies and Analysis;

  • Forum of Ukrainian Youth Diaspora;

  • Various projects of the Ukrainian Youth NGO “Students Republic”';

  • Competition “Ukraine of My Dream”;

  • First National Best Projects Competition;

  • “League of Interns” NGO. Internship projects in Ukrainian Parliament;

  • Support of schools;

  • Support of publishing projects.

 

 

In October 2012 the foundation launched its key long-term program "Young Generation Will Change Ukraine". 

Core Idea of the Program: Qualified human capital and enormous natural resources are competitive advantages that shape Ukraine's development potential. To use the potential of the country to the maximum extent possible, the country needs total transformation of all state institutions, economic and social system as well as its environmental policy. Such a transformation can only be carried out by active professional, patriotic people of young generation who will study and implement best European and international practices in Ukraine. 

 

Association of Program Participants

 

In 2014 Foundation helped to launch the Association of "Young Generation Will Change Ukraine" Program participants. The aim of Association is to encourage and gather young professionals to start peaceful transformation processes in Ukraine.

 

The Association is:

  • Community of supporters;

  • A platform to exchange experts' opinions;

  • Creation of innovative ideas and concepts;

  • Place to shape real leaders, new politicians and social activists.

 

Projects 2014:

  • Conference "Has Transformation Begun?" (June 5th, 2014)

  • Local Deputy School (September 19th - November 1st, 2014)

  • Ukrainian Youth Delegate to the UN (September 2014- September 2015).

 

 

Bohdan Hawrylyshyn

     Bohdan Hawrylyshyn is a member of the Club of Rome, World Academy of Arts and Science, International Academy of Management, Foundation Jean Monnet pour l’Europe, and Forum Suisse de Politique Internationale. He is the chairman and co-founder of the International Management Institute (Geneva) since 1988, Foundation Vidrodgenia (Geneva) and the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Charitable Foundation (Ukraine). Graduate of the University of Toronto (M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering), he has a Ph.D. in Economics and Social Science (University of Geneva), as well as 5 honorary doctorates from Canadian and Ukrainian Universities.

   Bohdan has occupied positions in research, engineering and management in Canada, worked as a Professor, and then Director of the International Management Institute. From 1960 to 1986 he taught Economic Growth, Management of International Operations, World Business Environment, Governance of Countries, and Geopolitics. He has chaired conferences, moderated seminars, lectured in over 70 countries, was an advisor on Governance of Countries, a consultant to multinationals (G.E., IBM, Unilever) and participated in Swiss governmental delegations to international conferences.
   Since 1988, Bohdan has participated actively in Ukraine’s political, social and cultural life. He created and chaired the Council of Advisors to the Presidium of the Parliament of Ukraine from 1990-1998, the International Renaissance Foundation from 1991-1998, the International Center for Policy Studies, Kyiv, from 1994-2006. He was an advisor to the first President of Ukraine, three Prime-Ministers, and four Chairmen of the Parliament.
    is the author of four books: L’Education des Dirigeants – Aspects Methodologiques, 1977, Road Maps to the Future – Towards More Effective Societies, 1980 (also published in French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Ukrainian), Towards More Effective Societies - Road Maps to the Future, 2009 (also published in Ukrainian and Russian) and a book of memoires, A Ukrainian Wherever, 2011.
